Scotia, NY: Friday, December 22, 2023, members of the Electric City Chapter got together for a Christmas wrapping party. The wrapping event marked the culmination of the Chapter’s Day of Comfort Observance. Together, members of Electric City DeMolay and Beukendaal Lodge teamed up and partnered with their local school district to adopt a local family for the holidays.
The planning began back in October when Master Councilor Ollie Talbot wanted to find a way to spread some holiday cheer. They kicked off the campaign at their November installation by hanging gift tags on the Christmas tree at the Scotia Masonic Temple. Over the next few weeks, members of the chapter and Masons from Beukendaal Lodge picked up gift tags and went shopping for gifts.
One by one, the youth leaders of Electric City wrapped each gift for the family of four. For many DeMolays, this was their first time wrapping a gift. DeMolay advisors and parents were on hand to teach them the secrets of gift wrapping, and in no time, they were wrapping gifts like professional North Pole elves. In a subtle nod to DeMolay’s most notable alumni, several presents were wrapped in Mickey Mouse paper. Brother Bob Addis from Beukendaal Lodge stopped by to meet the DeMolays for the first time and sat in on their Chapter’s Day of Comfort Reflection and 9 o’Clock Interpolation.
Due to thegenerosity and hard work of these fine youth leaders, a local family will have many memorable presents under their tree. The young men lived up to the spirit of the obligatory day by being good citizens eager to help those less fortunate.
