Final-Call-Items-Mid-Year-2025

NOTES from “Dad” Brusoe

Call Items #1, #2, #3, and #4: These call items update our internal operations in Kansas City and make our non-profit corporate governance more in line with best practices.  Call items  #2 and #3 will only come up if #1 is defeated. You can tell they have broad appeal across the nation.

Call item #5: Currently, it only takes two Class 1 Members to force a roll call of the entire Supreme Council (about 1% of the body). This increases it to 10, approximately 5% of the body.

Call Item #6: We currently force our employees to retire at age 70 by virtue of our rules and regulations. This would take it out of the bylaws and the board, if they thought it prudent, could create a retirement policy. NOTE: This does not impact Class 1 members; their retirement is set to age 75.

Call item #7: When they added monthly board meetings, they didn’t add a provision to cancel them. This provides an option to cancel them. Sometimes there is not enough business to justify a meeting.

Call item #8: It tweaks the qualifications for the civic legion of honor. “for outstanding leadership or service in some field of endeavor which directly benefits the Order or its members.”

NOTE: For NY, Governors are able to opt their region into this program. We require that anyone nominated for the Civic LOH be a registered advisor, hold the Cross of Honor, and be working with a chapter that has met its membership goal.
